We would like to express my sincere gratitude to all organizations, experts, representatives of government institutions, businesses, and educational organizations who actively participated in the meeting and panel discussion held within the framework of the “Business for Education” Platform. Thank you for your valuable contributions, insightful perspectives, and commitment to cooperation.
It is through this kind of collaborative effort that representatives of the renewable energy sector, vocational education providers, regulatory authorities, and industry experts were able to discuss the real needs and challenges that are essential for the development of human capital within the sector.
I am particularly pleased that, as a direct result of this cooperation, five new short-term training and retraining programmes are currently being developed, specifically designed to address the needs of both the labour market and the rapidly growing renewable energy industry. This is another strong example of how education and business can work together to create tangible value for both industry and future professionals.
Today, renewable energy is one of the fastest-growing sectors worldwide. Technological advancements and increasing investments continue to generate demand for new professions, skills, and competencies. At the same time, one of the sector’s greatest challenges remains the shortage of qualified professionals. For this reason, cooperation between education and industry is no longer merely an opportunity—it has become a necessity.
The “Business for Education” Platform was established precisely to address this challenge. It brings together renewable energy companies, vocational education institutions, regulatory bodies, and sector experts with a shared goal: aligning vocational education with labour market needs and supporting the sustainable development of the sector.
The event brought together representatives from the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), the Energy Training Centre, GREDA, Photomate, Shine Energy, Biodiesel Georgia, representatives of vocational education development institutions, the Circular Economy and Resource Management Association, the Vocational Training and Retraining Centre for Convicted Persons, professionals from the energy and environmental sectors, and many other important partners.
Special attention was devoted to the panel discussion:
“The Role of Short-Term Training and Retraining Programmes in the Sustainable Development of the Sector.”
Participants discussed:
We firmly believe that successful vocational education begins when training programmes are developed not only by educational institutions, but also with the active participation of employers, industry experts, and sector stakeholders.
We hope that the “Business for Education” Platform will become a permanent mechanism for cooperation, fostering the development of new programmes, strengthening practical learning opportunities, expanding research activities, and building even closer connections between education and industry.
The future of Georgia’s energy sector, green economy, and sustainable development depends on qualified human capital. Building that workforce is only possible through the joint efforts of business, education, and government.
⚡🌱 Together, we are investing in the skills, knowledge, and professionals who will drive Georgia’s sustainable future.
