Today, Safety Academia Vocational College completed the development of its new practical guide, "Artificial Intelligence in Vocational Education."
The guide serves as a practical roadmap for vocational education and training (VET) institutions, providing step-by-step guidance on how to introduce and manage artificial intelligence responsibly, safely, and effectively, ensuring that AI becomes a tool for enhancing educational quality, fostering innovation, and strengthening professional competencies.
The publication has been developed based on international best practices and is informed by UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, the UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Teachers, the principles and requirements of the European Union AI Act, and has been adapted to the context of Georgia's vocational education system and national regulatory framework.
The guide is designed for the four key stakeholder groups whose collaboration is essential for successful AI implementation: institutional leaders, teachers and instructors, digital transformation teams, and students. Each group is provided with practical guidance, clear implementation steps, and ready-to-use tools.
The guide covers:
Principles for the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence;
Integration of AI into curricula, teaching, and learning processes;
Modern approaches to teaching, learning, and assessment in the AI era;
Safety considerations for high-risk and safety-critical professions;
A three-phase AI implementation model for educational institutions;
Practical templates and tools, including institutional AI readiness self-assessment, AI governance policy, risk register, and implementation roadmap.
The central message of the guide is clear:
Successful AI integration does not begin with technology. It begins with clear governance, ethical principles, well-prepared people, and an organizational culture built on responsibility and human-centered education.
The mission of vocational education is to prepare people for a rapidly changing world of work. For this reason, the effective, safe, and responsible use of artificial intelligence is no longer a matter for the future—it has become an essential component of modern vocational education.
I am proud that Safety Academia is taking another significant step in this direction by developing a practical resource that will support vocational education and training institutions in implementing digital transformation more effectively, safely, and responsibly.
